Smiles!

The new highlight in our life is that Andrew is smiling. Can I just say that this melts my heart! Experts say that a baby should start smiling at about 6 weeks, so Andrew is on target :) He has also been 'talking.' Needless to say we are having a ton of fun with our little guy. Capturing a picture is a little difficult but hopefully this will do for now.

Andrew's Professional Newborn Pics

They're finally in!! Andrew had his newborn pics taken by a friend of Ryan. They turned out so well. I strongly recommend using her if you need any professional pictures. Her company is Amy Boeve Photography. Here's some of our favorites:

New pics

Andrew stares at his cousin, Gavin. Gavin stares back. They each think, "There's something strangely familiar about you."

Tulip Time

One of the traditions that the VanderKamp family has is to dress the kiddos in traditional Dutch costumes during Tulip Time in Holland Michigan. We were so happy to actually participate this year. We had a costume made for Andrew, but as you can see it is absolutely huge on him! It may actually fit him again next year. Anyway, here are a few pictures of Andrew with his cousins and his Dad.

sleeping pics

Our little guy loves to sleep, unfortunately not through the night, though. Here are a few of my favorite pictures of him sleeping. As you can see, he loves to have his hands near his face. So cute!

A Week of Firsts

Today, Andrew took his first bottle! Mary left me at home for a while with Andrew, which left feeding duties to me for the first time. I don't have any pictures for a very good reason -- he hated it!! He cried and screamed and yelled from the very bottom of his lungs. After an hour long fight, Andrew finally gave Daddy his victory and sucked down the bottle in record time.

Of course, almost everything Andrew does at this point is firsts, but some moments are just great to witness, such as his first bath this past Wednesday. He may get angry later for posting pics and video on the internet, but for now, I just had to share!

Andrew didn't see eye to eye on this whole bath thing. Needless to say, his "squeaks" are gone!

Family Picture

Finally, here is a family picture on a nice Michigan spring day

Here are a few funny shots of my boy. I put him in his swing and he looked quite possessed...truth be told, he was letting out a few toots and seemed shocked by this :)
