this and that

Andrew can't get enough of his Dad. Poor Ryan never gets any peace, not even when he is mowing the lawn.

Metro Cruise

Each year, there is a weekend in August where people with old/classic cars are encouraged to show off their ride. It's called the "Metro Cruise." People with these cars drive up and down 28th street while spectators sit along the side of the road. There is also a plaza where people can park their cars so others can take a closer look. Ryan and I are not car people, but Andrew LOVES them! So we thought this would be a great event for him. He loved it! He kept on saying 'look at this one!' He inspected those cars like he knew what he was doing. He would look at the front, squat down and look at the tires, then take a look at the back of the car. He did this over and over. Ryan and I could have cared less about the cars but we sure did have fun watching Andrew and shared in his joy :)

Enjoying time with the Texas cousins

My sister, Sara, was in town last week so of course we had a lot of fun things planned to keep the kids busy.

In these next few pictures, we are at Lake Michigan.  Believe it or not, this was the first time I had taken Andrew to one of the Great Lakes.  He was a little unsure of it at first but he quickly fell in love with it.  Digging in the sand was a huge hit!

The back ground for this picture is that I had asked Dayana if she wanted to give Sylvia a bottle while I got a few things done around the house.  When I came back, she was feeding Sylvia with one hand and reading a book to Andrew with the other hand.  Even I can't do that!
One of the other days, we went to the zoo.  Same as last year, Andrew didn't care much for the animals.  He was much more interested in all the other activities that the zoo had to offer.  In this next picture, Andrew and Daniel are sitting in a fort.
Here, Grandpa Huizinga is showing Andrew how an old tractor works.
And yet another activity was going to the Kent County Youth Fair in Lowell.  The animals were a little more intriguing to Andrew this time because he could get so close to them and even pet them in some cases.

Looking at the young chicks.  Andrew asked if he could 'go in there.'
If you know my son, you know he loves fans.  I had not idea that a youth fair had SO many fans!  Those were by far the highlight for him, especially these industrial sized ones.  Everywhere we looked there were more 'FANS!'
I think this picture is so sweet...Dayana, Andrew & Daniel watching the horses together.
All this activity wore my boys out!

Sylvia's 2 month check up

Sylvia had her 2 month appointment the other day and all signs show that she is growing and developing perfectly. She has gained almost 5 lbs and grown almost 3 inches since her last appointment. So her official stats are as follows: She weighs 12 lbs 8 oz which puts her at the 54%. And her height is 24 & 1/8 inches which puts her at the 87%. So she is continuing the trend of being our long, skinny girl :) Her neck is getting stronger so tummy time isn't as big of an ordeal as it used to be. She also likes to sit up in her bumbo seat with the help of a book or magazine of course. But most important is that she continues to have a smile that just won't quit! She is such a joy!
